Vintage 1851 post- Civil War belt buckle/plate/Sword Plate.
This super well-made plate is a bit of a mystery to me so if anyone can shed some light on its age and origin I would appreciate it. It is extremely well-made and has no flaws as far as I can tell. The back is very smooth and not crudely made. The mystery is the letters E?H on the bottom underneath the wreath. After the E there is an indistinguishable mark that I cannot make out. Looks to not be a letter and could be some sort of hallmark? You be the judge.
