stamps FVF and
MNH
. It contains all non-error listed
TRANSPORTATION
coils from
2123
to
2136.
This is the SECOND series, which was issued between
1985
and
1989
. The set offered here has all of the
Scott major numbers
and non-error
minor number
listings.
The set begins with low value
non-profit
stamps in precancel and the philatelic prints. The philatelic versions without precancel markings served no legitimate Postal rates, but were commonly used within the stamp community. It contains all three version of the 7.1c
Tractor 1920s
and all three 10.1
Oil Wagon 1890s
stamps. Transportation coils were constantly evolving. This group shows the beginning transition from the old Cottrell press to the newer B Press. It is exemplified by Bureau precancel black bars changing to service inscriptions in red ink.
B Press
reprints arrived with a variety of differences in the appearance of Transportation stamps. Generally the design sizes are slightly smaller. Cottrell press stamps have the familiar joint lines but the new reprints bear only a plate number. Joint lines on coil stamps were soon extinct. The distance between plate revolutions doubled. There are no PNCs in this auction item. The highlight of the set are the 3 different 12c
Stanley Steamer 1909
varieties.
In some cases we use Brookman minor numbers like
"v"
, which are not technically Scott numbers but help to identify. The varieties can be complicated to assemble but we guarantee accurate identification.
Many of these beautiful coils have very fine centering. There is a
