    Description

Union Army haversack. Basically your Civil War soldiers lunchbox. Outside buckle, tarred canvas, button liner inside.
I did classroom demonstrations and re-enactments for about 25 years and kept my gear and uniform in good shape with some wear and tear. It is time to sell it all, so see my other auctions to totally outfit and equip yourself into the 20th Maine (or pretty much any other Union infantry regiment). This also allows you to avoid the abuse heaped on newbies and their straight-from-the-sutler uniform and equipment. Ask if you have any questions.
People asked questions so I added a couple more pics, but as you can pretty much tell, I am not a professional photographer.
People also asked for condition specifics: In pretty good shape. It is canvas with waterproof paint or tar painted on it. the inside cotton/linen pouch could use some cleaning as this had held coffee, tea, cone sugar, tobacco, beans, salted pork, hardtack, plates, and utensils. And maybe a Snickers bar if it wasn't hot out and the Sergeant wasn't looking. Nothing here is mint. I did a few hundred demonstrations for school kids and more than a few re-enactments. This stuff has been to Gettysburg (Not the actual battle or the movie, but you get the idea) so there is some wear and tear, and the brass will always have a hint of brass polish. You might notice that I mention brass polish a lot - If you do re-enactments, you will become very familiar with polishing.
