Half round files are used for rounding out holes and filing concave, convex and flat surfaces. Half round files are rounded on one side and flat on the other. Second cut files have a medium coarseness. Second cut files are used for intermediate smoothing and finishing work. Double cut files consist of two sets of teeth crisscrossing each other at opposite angles. Double cut files are used for heavy stock removal.
