Copied from an original which recently sold, this Macon Arsenal pistol cartridge box is an example of one of the most under-represented items of cavalry equipment on the market.  These boxes were used by officers and cavalrymen to carry prepared packages of cartridges for use with the pistol. This piece has a pewter round shaped finial,(different from this photo) where the original item had a nail for a simple closure device. Either a field repair or a makeshift piece due to lack of supplies at the arsenal. Quality American leather, hand cut, hand dyed, and hand sewn as were the originals.
