This is an antique print from Frank Leslie's "Scenes & Portraits of the Civil War" ( Pittsburgh Times Souvenir), which was published weekly, starting April 11th, 1894. This print is a SINGLE PRINT PAGE cut from this publication. It measures 16 1/4" X 11 1/2". There is a print on both sides. You will have to decide which print to display as they are back to back. This is an original print not a reproduction from the 1894 edition book. This is a item over 100 years old. It has been kept flat but expect some light wear as described. My photos are of the actual original print you are getting. There are no tears or creases. The title of the print on side 1 is, " The War in Virginia-Hospital Scene After the Battle of Bristoe Station". Ther is a lot of text on this page.
The title of the print on side 2 is, " Siege of Charleston-The Doomed City Fired by Gillmore's Explosive Shells from Fort Putnam". The is text on this page. Illustration is larger.
The preface to this book reads, "The plan of Frank Leslie's Scenes and Portraits of the Civil War is to furnish a compete and authentic history of the conflict between the States in pictures drawn on the spot and in descriptive prose.
This Series of the War Pictures will consist of thirty parts, twenty-six of which will be devoted to illustrations and four to reading matter. Each of the first twenty-six parts will contain sixteen illustrations, making a total of 416 in the complete volume. Short and interesting descriptions will accompany the pictures in each part.
Among the illustrations will be portraits of all the famous generals of both Federal and Confederate armies, well-known statesmen of the North and South; grand views of stirring battles; heroic cavalry and infantry charges; exciting encounters between great war ships; views of laughable and pathetic incidents; in short, everything of interest connected with the Civil War will be pictured just as it happened."
