Elvis Super Rare Promo, Impossible Dream/American Trilogy 45 rpm, Tupelo, Mint

One of the rarest 45 rpm Elvis promos was distributed by the late RCA Executive Producer Joan Deary during Elvis week, Aug. 1982, in Tupelo, MS, ONLY!  RCA release JH-13302. (see label photo)

Joan was Executive in charge of the Elvis catalog of recordings for RCA records. Joan joined RCA in 1954 and it was her job to handle all of the Elvis material. She produced many Elvis albums for RCA, including the Elvis Aron Presley 25th Anniversary Album Set. Joan worked out of the RCA building in Hollywood until her retirement in 1987. Her duties were taken over by Greg Geller. Joan was in Tupelo MS at Elvis' birthplace during Elvis Week, 1982. If you visited the birthplace for a dollar, Joan would pass out this gem after your tour of the small shot-gun house.
The promo has a gold label; songs by Elvis are "An American Trilogy" and "The Impossible Dream". This RCA promo is probably the leased amount of pressings in history, only 7500 pressed to pass out in Tupelo in 1982 by Joan. She cared deeply about the fans of Elvis and about Elvis and about the birthplace of Elvis. Joan was a great Elvis fan and wanted to do this for the fans. I received most of what I have directly from Joan during that week. She autographed a couple for me and I still have them. Joan passed away in 2001. She was a wonderful person with a great heart, very rare these days for an RCA/BMG Executive to be this way and care about the fans.
After a fan visited Elvis' shotgun birthplace for , then you would receive the promo upon exiting the house. While passing out the records in Tupelo Joan noticed that some of the sleeves had fronts and no backs. Joan said "We can't have that". The blank back sleeves were removed from the box.  The white sleeve (with printing on both sides) explains the dedication to Elvis and both record & sleeve are in mint shape.
The picture of Joan Deary and myself was taken in 1985 at the Memphis State University Awards Banquet. Joan holds the award she was presented with for "Fan Appreciation Award".

The other photos of Joan is at the old Howard Johnson's Fan Festival. (The Howard Johnson's on Elvis Presley Blvd. was the sight of the first Elvis auction and Elvis convention in Memphis after Elvis' death in 1977).  The Howard Johnson's fell on hard times over the years and became Graceland Inn. We had the longest running Elvis Festival of 28 years at the same location.  The Graceland Inn was torn down during 2008.
We now have the Festival at the Clarion on Brooks Road.  It was formerly the Ramada Inn.  The Clarion is just around the corner from the old previous sight of the Howard Johnson's. We are having the 2012 Elvis Fan Festival there in August during Elvis week, 2012.  It will be great! Pool parties (like the old Days Inn on Brooks), bands outside next to pool area and also a refreshment stand.  Elvis Vendors will be in the pool suites next to the pool.
The other photos of Joan is with me and some of the Elvis Fan Club Members from Norway and Denmark...The photo is inside the conference room at the old Howard Johnsons Motel which Joan gave several promotional talks for many years about upcoming RCA Elvis items during the year.
I was in Tupelo a few days whenever Joan was passing the Tupelo 45 rpm out.  I was buying them from some people that did not care about the record. Even some kids came in a bus and were using these Tupelo promos as frisbees. Needless to say, I rescued what I could from all the kids, through a monetary exchange.
