This is a unique find! Recorded off the air in Des Moines Iowa on the night of August 16, 1977 - this is an hour long special produced by KIOA commemorating the life and music of Elvis Presley. It features interviews with Iowa area fans, archival recordings and interviews with Elvis (when he was drafted, etc) and of course dozens of his hits from the 50s and early 60s! No commercial interruptions, this was broadcast about three hours after the announcement of his death and to the best of my knowledge was never repeated, my research has been unable to find a copy of this special, so this may be the only extant copy of a unique night of broadcasting?!The cassette is an Ampex "362 Extended Frequency Cassette" C60 with original jewel case. Marked on Side 1 "Elvis Death" the tape starts a moment after the special begins (I imagine the person who recorded this realized something special was happening and grabbed a blank tape as quickly as possible), sound quality is excellent, no radio interference and the frequency response is surprisingly good for a 45 year old tape!
