    Comet Models produced some really fine flying rubber-band powered free flight kits of the
    AERONCA CHIEF
    aircraft back in the 1930s and 40s. All of their big models had a 54" wing span---this
    AERONCA CHIEF
    and the
    PLANS
    for their
    AERONCA "K"
    and
    TAYLORCRAFT
    kits. Since these old Comet models were so big and stable in flight, they can all be converted by knowledgeable builders to RC for 1/2A gas or electric.
    I have parts pattern sheets from the sheet wood from an old kit to go along with these plans thanks to a West Virginia friend, Jim Via. You can see the parts patterns on the right side of my picture of the model plans. I placed a yardstick over the plan to show that this is a full-size, not a miniature,

    that I show is hanging from the ceiling on display at the Southern Museum of Flight in my city of Birmingham, AL. This picture was taken on July 14, 2010. I show it only to illustrate what your completed model will look like.
