    Description

I AM NOT SELLING A KIT
    , only a new, full-size copy of a kit
    PLAN
    to build a Berkeley 20"
    MINI-ZILCH
    1/2A UC stunt model.
    The
    MINI-ZILCH
was a very popular 1/2-A powered stunt model touted to be able to do the entire stunt pattern of the time. The model is very simple in its sheet sided fuselage and solid balsa stab & elevator.
One significant weakness in the original kits was that the balsa provided was unusually soft and was way too thin. That may have been to save weight. O.K. Cubs, K & B Torp .035 & .049, & the Baby Spitfire did not put out much thrust. It was when the Atwoods, Wasp .049 and the Atwood Shriek came out that the rpms picked up greatly so that a model of this size could be built with heavier balsa thicknesses. When you build yours just use medium hard balsa and a nice Cox Pee Wee engine set up for a separate fuel tank and you will do just fine.
The chord of the 20" span wing is straight so that the wing rib outline shown on the fuselage side view will be perfect for cutting out all of your ribs.
    I now include
    nearly all
of the parts patterns. I bought a kit to get these patterns and surprisingly the fuselage die cut sheets did not show any extra rib patterns. Since the ribs are the same, the two patterns I include are sufficient. I posted a picture of the printwood from an old kit giving guidance for cut-&-try efforts.
